There Are Many Options To Consider When Selecting Floor Materials For Your Commercial Building…

Every commercial project is different and may demand specific flooring built to endure everyday usage. It needs to look great and have low maintenance.

Things to consider when choosing the flooring for your commercial building:

  • Floor patterns
  • Colors
  • Types
  • Carpeted flooring
  • Wooden flooring
  • Tile flooring
  • Vinyl flooring

Polyurea Floor Coating

Another great choice to finish off a commercial space is with polyurea floor coatings.  These multi-tonal surface coatings add bright new colors that won’t fade in the sun, as well as texture to help traverse the surface even on wet or icy days. This seal coat can be applied to horizontal surfaces as well, allowing for stairs to be far safer than traditional concrete, and with a 15-year warranty, they will last much longer while looking incredible!

Polished Concrete Flooring

When it comes to commercial concrete flooring, there are several options to choose from, each with its own set of advantages and drawbacks. Your existing concrete slab could be polished, ground, sealed, or coated with a commercial coating such as epoxy. Among the attributes to be considered with each of these options are appearance, durability, and longevity. The polished concrete flooring is resistant to oil stains, chemical spills, and even forklift traffic. Though a bit more expensive than VCT or laminate, its low maintenance needs will reduce costs.

What Is Floor VCT?

VCT stands for vinyl composite tile. This is made from a composite material that is aimed at creating a tile that is made of a minimized amount of vinyl in combination with limestone and other materials. The goal is to go with a more cost-effective material that still looks the part. VCT can last up to a 20-years and requires minimal maintenance. The floors are slip resistant and are available in many designs and themes.

Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring has a variety of environmentally friendly benefits, but one of them beats them all: Laminate flooring creates the look of a natural resource – such as wood or stone – as opposed to actually using it, so fewer raw materials are used in the manufacturing process. This eco-friendlier alternative to hardwood makes it an excellent choice for commercial buildings.  Laminate floors lack wood content but have the same feeling and look similar to hardwood floors.

Hardwood Flooring

Generally, the harder the hardwood, the more expensive and durable it is. Constructed from thin, glued-together layers of derivative wood products, such as OSB (oriented strand board), MDF (medium-density fiberboard). or plywood, hardwood is the most beautiful type of commercial flooring material.  It is a little more expensive; however, you can never go wrong by installing quality hardwood flooring as it will last for years and years.

Vinyl Flooring

Commercial-grade vinyl flooring is made from natural and synthetic polymer materials. This durable choice is the surface of choice for hotel lobbies, offices, entryways, schools, hospitals, and many other settings. Vinyl is a strong and durable option that is appealing and more affordable than hardwood and is generally water-resistant. The downside is it can emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and has a shorter lifespan than wood floors.

Your Budget

The flooring material can have a big impact on your project’s budget.  Durable and attractive flooring options often come at a premium.  Your ideal option might not work with your project’s budget. Professionals can help you decide on the most suitable option at a cost you can afford. Choosing floorings that best suit your business type, theme, and decor is your goal. Your floor is going to take a beating. No matter if it’s a warehouse floor or the floor of your commercial space, you want a floor that’s going to stand up to constant pressure and still look great. Your unique business space will determine which type of flooring is best for your project.
